The ongoing legal tussle between the two warring fractions of Osho disciples took a new turn on Sunday, with the Pune police registering an FIR against six of them for allegedly forging Osho’s will. The FIR was lodged at Koregaon Park police station by Yogesh Thakkar, who had levelled charges against Michael Byrne John Andrews D’ Arcy O’Byrne, Klaus Steeg Mukesh Sarda and Philip Toelkes.
Thakkar, who has been working on the behalf of Osho Friends Foundation, has challenged the Osho Commune in Koregaon Park for its various property alienations.
A twist to the tale came when 20 years after Osho’s death, his “will” was produced in an European Court. The will, claimed to have been executed in Pune on October 15, 1989, has Michael O Byrne alias Anand Jayesh as the executor and John Andrews alias Amrito and Philip Toelkes alias Prem Niren as witnesses. The will has been challenged by Thakkar and others in Pune, with a civil suit filed to declare it as null and void.
A police complaint in the case was filed last month while the official FIR was filed recently. Calls and messages to Commune’s spokesperson Ma Sadhna went answered.
